Our Second Favourite Local Pub
We were lucky enough to be invited out for a meal at the Snake Valley Pub with a local known as “Grub” — and despite the nickname, it couldn’t be further from who he actually is!
It just so happened to be after a big community day, where locals had come together to raise money for a cricket club that had sadly burned down. We’d just missed a cricket legend who had stopped by to rally the crowd (still kicking myself for not catching the name!), but the energy in the pub was still buzzing.
It was the busiest we’d seen a local pub since arriving in the area, and the atmosphere? Absolutely jolly. Grub seemed to know everyone, and before we knew it, we were being introduced all around the room. Every single person we met was warm, welcoming, and more than happy to have a chat. That’s something we’ve really come to love about these small towns.
We’d been warned about the portion sizes… and we really should have listened.
Every meal comes with the option to help yourself to extra vegetables from a bain-marie, which is such a great touch — though, honestly, we didn’t even make it that far. We went all in: a pizza, a parmigiana (I mean, it’s a staple at this point), and a bowl of chips.

Safe to say, our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. We ended up needing a doggy bag. No regrets though!
The pizza, in particular, was a standout, old school standout. I haven’t seen one loaded like that in years. Thick with toppings and full of flavour. It instantly took me back to those classic childhood Pizza Hut nights. It was just as good reheated in our Weber Baby Q the next day.

During quieter times, there’s a lovely deck area where you can enjoy your meal, which is perfect if you’re travelling with dogs. We were even told that some locals ride their horses to the pub. There’s a spot out the back to tie them up while they eat or grab a drink. How good is that?
It’s also incredibly well-priced, you could easily share a meal between two, especially if you take advantage of the veggie smorgasbord.

We have heard on the down-low that you can pop your camper up in the back overnight too… we considered it, but decided that was a very dangerous idea!
